Crew Support & Infrastructure
We construct the temporary living and working environments that sustain high-performance production teams. Managing everything from hotel matrices to fully functioning field base camps.
Sustaining the Production Engine
A film crew is an intensive, fast-moving workforce operating under high pressure and irregular hours. Their physical welfare directly impacts the speed and quality of the production. We treat crew support not as an administrative afterthought, but as a critical logistical pillar. By efficiently managing accommodation, field catering, and on-site welfare facilities, we ensure the crew is focused entirely on their respective departments, rather than fighting the environment.
Accommodation Coordination
Housing a hundred-person crew for a six-week location shoot is an exercise in complex matrices. We evaluate accommodation based on strict operational criteria: proximity to the unit base, availability of large-vehicle parking for technical crew, early-breakfast capabilities for 5:00 AM call times, and sufficient internet bandwidth for the DIT and production office. We negotiate block bookings, managing the continuous churn of arriving and departing day-players, specialized technicians, and executive personnel without disrupting the core team's stability.
Production Base Camp Setup
The unit base is a temporary, highly functional village. We manage its physical construction. This involves coordinating the delivery, placement, and utility connections for honeywagons (restrooms), three-way artist trailers, wardrobe and makeup trucks, and mobile production offices. We calculate the power draw for the entire camp, sourcing appropriately silenced generators to maintain power without violating local noise ordinances. We arrange fresh water delivery schedules and grey-water extraction, ensuring the base remains sanitary and compliant with municipal environmental standards.
Field Catering Logistics
Feeding a crew is a major logistical undertaking. We provide the infrastructure that allows catering teams to operate safely and efficiently. This means securing leveled hard-standing for dining buses, erecting heated marquees in winter conditions, and establishing safe pedestrian routes from the working set to the dining area. We ensure catering bases have the necessary high-capacity power and clean water access required to prepare hundreds of hot meals in remote environments.
Rest Considerations & Turnaround Times
Legal and union-mandated rest periods (turnarounds) govern the production schedule. If the journey from the location back to the accommodation takes 90 minutes, that cuts deeply into the crew's legal rest period, pushing the next day's call time later and costing the production daylight. We map accommodation and transport routes to absolutely minimize transit times. By shaving thirty minutes off a daily commute, we protect the production schedule and maintain crew morale and safety.
Local Support and Communication
In foreign locations, the crew relies entirely on our infrastructure. We establish robust communication networks, deploying temporary broadband repeaters or localized two-way radio frequencies where cellular service is non-existent. We act as the liaison for local support services—identifying the nearest emergency medical facilities, hardware stores, and specialized repair shops. If the grip department urgently needs custom metalwork in rural Germany, our local coordination team already knows exactly who to call.
Regional Crew Movement
As productions shift from region to region, the entire support infrastructure must pack up, move, and rebuild overnight. We sequence these moves meticulously. The catering advance team leaves early to set up breakfast at the new location; the facilities trucks drive through the night. The transition must be entirely invisible to the crew—they simply leave one functional base in the evening and arrive at a fully operational new base the following morning.
